Rock Spring Cooperative Preschool is an active community of families and dedicated teachers, working together to support our students and each other.
A group of caring and inventive mothers founded RSCP in 1943 and we are the oldest cooperative preschool in Arlington. We offer a half-day program with age-specific classes for children eighteen months to five years old.
Our teaching philosophy, anchored in the Reggio Emilia approach, is that children learn best through play. We believe the preschool child’s intellectual, social, and emotional growth is fostered through developmentally appropriate active play, guided by qualified teachers. To encourage this growth, we offer:
· A stimulating, natural environment for development and growth.
· An emphasis on nurturing each child’s individuality and joy of exploration and thus learning.
· An opportunity to help each child to gain self-confidence and independence as those are important building blocks of learning.
We are located on the Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ campus, at the intersection of Little Falls and Rock Spring roads.
As a member of our co-op, you will have the unparalleled opportunity to support and participate in your child’s growth. Family members are co-opers in the classroom, helping the teacher. Families also help with the committees that keep our school running. We know it sounds like a time commitment and you're already busy! But this small time commitment help families quickly become part of our strong, nurturing community.
